Character

Name: Izumo Kamiki
Fandom: Blue Exorcist
Gender: Female
Age: 16
Time Period: post-Chapter 34
Wing Color: dark purple with red tips
History:
Series at wikipedia, Izumo at the series wiki. She's taken from the manga, so any references to the anime should be ignored.
Personality:
Izumo displays a lot of the stereotypical "tsundere" traits. She comes off as cold, haughty, and prideful, rarely admitting to fondness for anyone else and almost never polite to her peers. Much of this behavior comes from her being friendless for most of her childhood. Paku, who accompanies her to Exorcist cram school, is stated to be her first friend, and is the only person we've really seen her showing her soft side to. While Izumo tries to go out of her way to make sure she never has to rely on anyone else, she was almost clingy towards Paku and thus was devastated when Paku decided to leave the school. Paku calling her out for her poor treatment towards Shiemi is the only thing that initially made her show any sign of regretting it.

Izumo is extremely dismissive of other people's attempts to be nice to her, which is most notable in her relationship with Shiemi. At first she takes advantage of Shiemi's kindness, asking her to do all kinds of things for her and practically treating her like a slave. When she's called out on her behavior, she simply states that she's not forcing Shiemi to do any of it--so it's fine because Shiemi seems happy with it. Eventually this ends, but Shiemi's attempts to befriend her continue. Izumo treats these with disdain(although has slowly grown nicer to Shiemi over time), often outright telling her that she hates her and she should go away. She has grown to care for Shiemi more than she would like to admit, but continues to try to drive her away though she will try to stop short of, say, making Shiemi cry.

Izumo comes off as very confident, and has extremely high expectations for herself. She considers herself a good student, and her peers describe her as the best in the class, so she tends to get upset when she doesn't know something or isn't the best at it. She'll often try to belittle the accomplishments of others if they best her, such as loudly claiming that she didn't memorize verses on purpose and making fun of Bon for knowing them, telling him that being an Aria(the kind of Exorcist that recites verses to fight demons, what Bon is aiming to be) is stupid anyway. She couldn't stand Shiemi stealing attention from her when both of them summoned their demon familiars for the first time, and in her jealousy and insecurity made fun of Shiemi and claimed she was acting "stuck up" for being excited about her familiar. She even admitted this fault to herself in a desperate situation, calling herself "an insufferable girl who hates to lose."

Izumo hates the idea of being weak. She's very independent(though she does realize that her teachers value teamwork, and is trying to get better at it to impress them), and does not want to look like she has to rely on others. Early into her stay at the academy a demon attacked her and Paku in the bath, and when others came to their rescue Izumo fled so no one would see her crying. When Rin does find her crying, she makes him swear not to tell anyone else about it. Izumo even justifies an act of kindness towards Rin with it just being her proving she's strong and not scared of anything. When their class learned that Rin was the son of Satan, most of them avoided him and were too scared to talk to him, but Izumo chose to sit down next to him. This could be because she understands what it's like to be friendless and had, at this point, grown secretly fond of Rin(she does later go on to reassure him by telling him that plenty of people, including exorcists, have demon blood in their family), but out loud she justifies it by saying she's doing it prove she's not afraid of anything--thus proving that she's better than her peers, who are afraid of him.

Izumo likes to follow the rules and often acts as a condescending voice of caution to her peers. When they were attacked by a pair of ghouls and started to defend themselves, Izumo was hesitant to act and kept warning them that they were likely to get themselves killed. She acts condescending about it to cover up her concern for their safety, but it is still pretty obvious.
Strengths:
-Izumo can see her universe's demons, due to receiving a wound from one.

-Izumo has the skills required to summon demons to do her bidding. Summoning requires a piece of paper with a seal drawn on it and some of her own blood, as well as the confidence required to command the demons she calls forth. She primarily summons two Byakko known as Mike and Uke. As per the rules of Luceti she won't be able to summon them in-game, obviously, but that's what she's got as far as supernatural abilities go.

-She is very driven and a very good student. How much effort she puts into her work is noted both by her and her peers(who refer to her as the best student in their class), and she's usually the one to answer most of the questions asked in their classes. Because of this, she has a lot of knowledge on demons and exorcism.

-She can admit to her faults when it comes down to it, and does try to make an effort to improve. When she realizes that her teachers value those who work well with others, she scolds herself for her need to do everything on her own--if only because it's not what the people she needs to impress are looking for--and has made efforts to cooperate with her peers a bit better.

Weaknesses:
-If Izumo shows a lack of confidence or insecurity around them, her familiars will turn on her. While she usually has them under control, this did happen to her on one occasion and she was only saved by regaining her composure at the last minute.

-Her tendency to lash out at others when she's displeased with herself gets her into a lot of arguments. When it's important she'll admit her faults to herself so she can improve, but her first response is usually to blame someone else. She doesn't really shy away from picking arguments to cover up for how upset she is, either--she's not passive aggressive, she's just plain aggressive. She has very high expectations for herself, and does not react well when they aren't met--such as when she picked a fight with Bon over memorizing verses. The comments she made to him were completley unprovoked, unnecessary, and downright nasty.

-Her difficulty admitting to any fondness for people. Because of it she rarely forms friendly relationships with people, and outright tries to discourage people from befriending her, such as her constantly telling Shiemi to go away because she hates her.

-She's not good with people in general. She's often baffled by their actions, like Shiemi's continued attempts to befriend her despite the horrible way she treats her. Izumo doesn't really know how to treat other people, and the confusion their actions cause her doesn't exactly help.

-The caution she shows in dangerous situations can be a hindrance as sometimes she's a bit too reluctant to act. The other students in her class point this out at one point--responding to her words of caution saying that in certain situations you have to act fast.
