[When Izumo finds herself back in the village post-mallynap, the first thing she does is head home--she'll talk to Rin and Shiemi if they're around, but regardless she doesn't wind up staying too long. Why? Because after searching the house, she's come to realize that the fox kit she got for Christmas is missing. Hoping he hadn't been gone for too long or gotten too far, she'll wander the village asking people if they've seen a tiny gray fox in town lately.]

[Later in the day Izumo sits in her room, making sure to keep the fox close now that she's retrieved him--after a lot of searching, she found him with Ran Fan.]

I've had a long day and I don't think going to the library would do me much good anyway, so I'm just going to ask--does anyone know what kinds of foods are best to eat when you can't smell?

[Izumo lets out a sigh, pausing for a minute as the baby fox tries to crawl up her and onto her shoulder...which frankly wouldn't make a very good perch for him.] Get down...

[Grabbing him and placing him in her lap, she returns her focus to her journal.]

...Anyway, before anyone stupid asks? Yes, smell and taste are connected.

[She doesn't outright shove him off or anything, but she makes a little "shoo" motion at his hand on her shoulder.]

I can't smell anything, but otherwise? I'm fine.

[rashness]

You can't smell?! [He retracts his hand though, now looking distinctly put out that she's come back with an effect like that. Even if it's minor as compared to some other stuff he's encountered.]

[bossybrows]

Not a thing.

[She lets out a sigh.]

Annoying, but it could be worse.

[rashness]

That's still not okay! [His tail curls, and he shakes his head before he sighs harshly.] Do you need to clean up?

[bossybrows]

I'll take care of that kind of thing in a little bit. Have you guys been taking care of the little beast?

[Because even if she's pretending she hasn't warmed up to him yet, she still wants to make sure he's okay.]

[rashness]

You mean that fox? I've been leaving out food and stuff for it?

[bossybrows]

You have? Good.

[Annnd she already embarrassed herself by showing her concern, so...]

...Thanks. I appreciate it.

[rashness]

Y...yeah, no problem.

[...] Now go shower or something.

[bossybrows]

I will.

[And unless he stops her for some reason she'll walk off to do that.]

Well, good! [...And now he's going to- wait. He should get some clothes on. That's embarrassing. He'll look for the fox when he does that too. Only to realize that it's not around]

[bossybrows]

[After a bit, Izumo will show up wherever Rin is, all cleaned up and such.]

...Hey. What's that dumb look on your face for?

[rashness]

Uh... well... See---

[...

... Hand motions ...]


--The fox isn't here.

[bossybrows]

[...]

What do you mean he isn't here?!

[rashness]

I mean I looked around for him and... he's not here!

[bossybrows]

So you lost him.

[Pause...and...]

You lost him?!

[rashness]

I didn't know I did?!

[bossybrows]

How long has he been gone?

[rashness]

I saw him last night.

[bossybrows]

Last night? Wow, that's just great! Who knows where he is by now, ugh...

[rashness]

I'm sorry, I'm sorry! I mean, I'll even go and look for 'em!

[bossybrows]

Hopefully he hasn't gotten lost in the woods or anything at this point.

[She lets out a long sigh.]

[rashness]

Let's split! You take the town, I can go in the woods and stuff.

[bossybrows]

[She doesn't answer for a minute. She's...thinking.]

...Fine, alright.

[rashness]

Alright! I'll be sure to find him, don't worry! [He punches a fist into his palm and takes off to find his sword so he can cover more ground out there in terms of finding the fox]
