[When Izumo finds herself back in the village post-mallynap, the first thing she does is head home--she'll talk to Rin and Shiemi if they're around, but regardless she doesn't wind up staying too long. Why? Because after searching the house, she's come to realize that the fox kit she got for Christmas is missing. Hoping he hadn't been gone for too long or gotten too far, she'll wander the village asking people if they've seen a tiny gray fox in town lately.]

[Later in the day Izumo sits in her room, making sure to keep the fox close now that she's retrieved him--after a lot of searching, she found him with Ran Fan.]

I've had a long day and I don't think going to the library would do me much good anyway, so I'm just going to ask--does anyone know what kinds of foods are best to eat when you can't smell?

[Izumo lets out a sigh, pausing for a minute as the baby fox tries to crawl up her and onto her shoulder...which frankly wouldn't make a very good perch for him.] Get down...

[Grabbing him and placing him in her lap, she returns her focus to her journal.]

...Anyway, before anyone stupid asks? Yes, smell and taste are connected.

I can safely recommend pizza for any ailment whatsoever.

[She's actually being serious; the spices and strong flavor of the sauce make it almost have taste even with a cold.]

Somehow I don't think pizza would be good for a flu.

[But that's not what her problem is--she literally has no sense of smell at the moment. She's just being difficult.]

I stand by my words. [There might be the tiniest of twitching at her lips, which fortunately the voice function doesn't allow to be seen.]

[Rather than waiting to be asked - an action too close to those of a normal person - Lee will jump out from seemingly nowhere when seeing Izumo displaying any level of distress.]

Izumo-san! Is something the matter?!

[Lee what are you doing.]

Where did you come from?!

[niceguypose]

[He points back over his shoulder.]

Um.. maybe something that has a very strong taste would still work? I've never tried it myself though, so I'm not sure.

Hmm.

Normally I'd just go off of how things are when I have a cold, but I don't think literally having no sense of smell will be exactly the same.

.. Huh? [ She just assumed it was a cold, yes, hence why this surprises her. ]

Are you saying you really can't smell at all..? B-but how did that happen?

Wait? So, if you can't smell foods, does that mean you can't taste them either? [ This is totally weird. ] If you parents were here, you could probably eat the food they've forced you to eat your while life and then, now that you're eating it without complaints, you'd get nothing but praise! [ ....Tenten logic is a bit different from most. ]

Well, it's not that it has no taste at all, but it messes it up.

It messes it up? How? [ She's curious. Does this mean that she tastes salmon when she's eating chicken? ]

[Rin's actually just waking up as Izumo steps in. He's not showered yet, and he's wearing his sleeping t-shirt and shorts combo, itching his belly as he makes his way towards the bathroom. Out of it]

[When Izumo notices him, she stops, clearing her throat loudly to announce her presence. Rude, Rin.]

[Izumo! He bounds over to put his hands on her shoulder, excited to see her again] Eyebrows! Oh, are you hurt?!

Spicy foods, probably. Those kinds of things have flavor even if you can't smell anything.

Hmm, of course it would be something like that. Enough people have said just about the same so I guess I'll have to believe you.

Sour foods would probably do well too. I guess anything that's got a strong flavor is enough to still taste good even if you can't smell.

Spicy foods help clear up the sinuses and your taste buds can taste spice, sweets, salts, and I think bitter without the sense of smell. And umami? I always forget one or two.

Point is, spicy is good.

[Though, not if you have the flu.]

[It had been... interesting keeping the fox thing away from Knox. Ran Fan wasn't really sure how to deal with the new pet, but she tried her best.

While Izumo is looking, she can find Ran Fan holding up Knox while her little fox barks away. Of course, Ran Fan thinks the little thing wants to eat her chicken, but really, the fox just wanted some attention.]

No! I have told you that Knox is not food, and I am not your master. Leave. [No one said she was good with animals.]

There you are!

[Izumo immediately runs over to the commotion, scooping the fox up into her arms.]

[Action]

[Later on in the day, when the fox kit and Izumo have settled back into the house, Shiemi knocks on Izumo's door.]

I-is this an okay time?

[Action]

[bossybrows]

[Izumo doesn't bother to get up, just answers back.]

Hmmm...I guess it's fine.
