[When Izumo finds herself back in the village post-mallynap, the first thing she does is head home--she'll talk to Rin and Shiemi if they're around, but regardless she doesn't wind up staying too long. Why? Because after searching the house, she's come to realize that the fox kit she got for Christmas is missing. Hoping he hadn't been gone for too long or gotten too far, she'll wander the village asking people if they've seen a tiny gray fox in town lately.]

[Later in the day Izumo sits in her room, making sure to keep the fox close now that she's retrieved him--after a lot of searching, she found him with Ran Fan.]

I've had a long day and I don't think going to the library would do me much good anyway, so I'm just going to ask--does anyone know what kinds of foods are best to eat when you can't smell?

[Izumo lets out a sigh, pausing for a minute as the baby fox tries to crawl up her and onto her shoulder...which frankly wouldn't make a very good perch for him.] Get down...

[Grabbing him and placing him in her lap, she returns her focus to her journal.]

...Anyway, before anyone stupid asks? Yes, smell and taste are connected.

I think they're getting along pretty well!

[She smiles gladly knowing that the household won't be at odds because of what might go on between Skarmy and the fox. The bird sits down by the kit, and lowers her head to get a better look at it.]

That's good, at least. Having animals fighting around here would be a pain.

[She looks thoughtful for a minute as baby fox paws at Skarmy hesitantly.]

...Do you think you're good at naming animals?

Me? I love naming things!

[Though being good at it is a different case entirely.]

Well, it'll be easier to keep him out of trouble if he has a name to recognize when I call it.

[Pointing to the kit.]

He went after someone's chicken today, apparently. Of course, he's still too small to really do much with that, but...

O-oh, that's naughty! Skarmy used to do mean things like that when she was smaller.

[Hell the bird still gets out of hand on occasion, but she's learned to behave... somewhat.]

What kind of personality does he have? Is he robust?
[The name should reflect how he is. That's how she named her plants.]

I'd say so. He's...always poking his nose into everything, and..[He's always trying to cuddle but how to say that in a less embarrassing manner...] He's always climbing all over me and begging for attention.

How about the name George?

[As in Curious George? That was a chimp, though.]

[This look, Shiemi, this look.]

...You know what, never mind.

You don't like it?

[But she thought it was so fitting! Not fancy, but it works.]

...I'll worry about this later.

[Sigh.]
